Land clearing in North Myrtle Beach usually starts with a lot that got away from its owner. Growth comes back fast on the coast, and a couple of seasons is all it takes. We run Category 5 Land Management out of Longs, about seven miles from North Myrtle Beach on SC 9. North Myrtle Beach sits in Horry County, and the Intracoastal Waterway splits the city down the middle. The beach side fills in block by block. The west side spreads along Robert Edge Parkway and Water Tower Road. Both sides still have parcels that sit behind a wall of vines and young pine. Call (843) 385-1090 for a free estimate.
In North Myrtle Beach, most of the work that fits is lot clearing and brush clearing. Lot clearing suits an infill lot on the beach side, or a parcel held for a future build. Brush clearing suits ground that is mostly overgrown, where the trees can stay. Both run off a Bobcat T300 track loader with a forestry mulcher head. The mulcher grinds brush and small trees where they stand, and the chips stay on the ground. Forestry mulching is the name for that work when it covers a whole parcel. That means no burn piles and nothing hauled off your lot. If a property line has closed in, we also do fence line clearing.

The city keeps growing on the west side of the waterway. Robert Edge Parkway crosses the waterway from Main Street and ends at SC 90. It has an interchange with SC 31, the Carolina Bays Parkway. Water Tower Road runs about seven miles from SC 90 to the former Waterway Hills Golf Club. Not long ago most of that road was dirt. The building boom out there is about a decade old. When one lot sits between finished homes, lot clearing is the job.
Barefoot Resort came into the city after the bridge went in, and building has not stopped. The city council has approved hundreds of new cottages and homes on that side in recent years. Lots get bought early and sit until a builder is ready. Two wet summers and a lot is back to briars and saplings. Forestry mulching clears that growth without burning it or trucking it out. The chips stay put and break down over the next few seasons.
North Myrtle Beach became one city in 1968, when four beach towns joined. Cherry Grove, Ocean Drive, Crescent Beach, and Windy Hill still feel like separate places. The lots there are older and tighter, and most sit between houses that are already lived in. There is no room for a burn pile or a stack of trunks. Our machine works down a narrow lot and leaves the growth on the ground as chips.
Burning brush is a real risk in this county. The 2009 Highway 31 fire started as a debris burn near Conway and reached Barefoot in a day. It burned more than 19,000 acres and damaged or destroyed 76 homes. It is still the most destructive wildfire in state history. We do not burn anything on a job. Brush clearing on a beach lot ends with a mulched surface you can mow. Call (843) 385-1090 for a free estimate on your lot.
